How to plan your van layout
1. Pick your van
Choose one of 16 built-in vans (Mercedes Sprinter, VW Crafter, Fiat Ducato / Peugeot Boxer, Ford Transit, Renault Master, VW T5/T6/T6.1 or Citroën Jumpy), or enter your own van's measurements.
2. Draw your floor plan
Add a bed, kitchen unit, fridge, toilet, benches and storage, or draw your own shapes. Everything is in centimetres, with the wheel arches, sliding door and cab drawn to scale.
3. Plan water, gas and electrics
Draw fresh, hot and grey water, LPG gas, 12 V, 24 V, 230 V and solar runs on their own layers. The shopping list adds up furniture, components and cable lengths.
Why plan your van conversion in 2D first
Fit first, details later
A top-down plan shows in minutes whether a fixed bed, a shower or a garage fits. No 3D modelling to learn.
Compare vans before you buy
Lay up to three vans over each other and see which one fits your layout.

Why I built it
I wanted to build out my own van, but I didn’t know which van to look for. Sprinter, Crafter, Ducato and Transit all differ in length, width and where the wheel arches sit, and that decides whether a fixed bed or a shower fits.
I also didn’t want to go the paper-cutout route to plan the layout. I wanted something simple, but powerful enough to get me about 80% of the way there. So I built Van Floor Planner.
Frequently asked questions
Is the van layout planner free?
Yes. Van Floor Planner is free to use, with no account and no download. If it helps with your build, you can leave a tip.
Which vans can I plan?
Mercedes Sprinter (L2H2 and L3H2, rear- and front-wheel drive), VW Crafter (L3H2, L4H2), Fiat Ducato / Peugeot Boxer (L2H2 to L4H2), Ford Transit (L3H2, L4H3), Renault Master (L2H2, L3H2), VW T5/T6/T6.1 (short and long wheelbase) and Citroën Jumpy. For any other van or bus, enter your own measurements.
How accurate are the van dimensions?
Cargo length and width, the gap between the wheel arches and the sliding door width come from the manufacturers’ spec sheets and technical drawings. Wheel arch positions follow from the official wheelbase and overhangs. Linings and model years differ, so measure your own van before you cut anything.
Can I plan plumbing and electrics?
Yes. Water, gas and electrical runs (12 V, 24 V, 230 V and solar) each have their own layer, and the shopping list totals the cable and hose lengths and the components you placed.
Where are my plans saved?
In your browser, on your own device. Nothing is uploaded. Use Export to save a file that you can import again on another computer.
Is it a 3D van design tool?
No. Van Floor Planner is a 2D top-down planner focused on fit and measurements. If you want a 3D model, settle the layout here first, then model it in a 3D tool.
